Getting Started Guide

- Printable XOS DVR Getting Started Guide

STEP ONE:
Open your box with the DVR and make sure that everything you should have is included in the box. Some of the following items will be in the plastic bag and others may have fallen through the hand holds. Be sure you have everything. If you are missing a piece, contact support right away.

DVR Items in the box:

  • DVR system
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • CD/Manual packet
    • Windows CD and manual
    • SAY Security CD
    • Driver/Hardware CDs
    • Warranty/Software Info Sheets
    • Case Keys
  • Watchdog cable
  • PTZ Control cable
  • Power cable
  • Modem cable
-

STEP TWO:
Connect the Watchdog cable to your DVR at BOTH locations on the back. One end with the thumb screws should connect to the Data1 Serial Port and the other end should connect to the plug on the Watchdog card. This cable allows your Watchdog feature to test the software about every 10 minutes to insure that it is running properly. If it is unplugged, it will restart.

STEP THREE:
Connect the mouse and keyboard to the DVR using the purple and green plugs that are located side-by-side. You can match the colors of the connectors to the plugs (mouse is green & keyboard is purple).

-

STEP FOUR:
Connect the video monitor to the back of the DVR using the blue connector and plug. Be sure to use the thumb screws to make sure the plug is secure.

-

STEP FIVE:
Connect the BNC cables to BNC plate on your DVR. If you are using the 16 channel plate, you should use all 16 connectors that are grouped together like they are in the photo. If you are using a 4 or 8 channel model, you will use the connecters that are located next to the monitor plug. Be sure they are all fully connected and secured by twisting them so the slide is completely on.

-

STEP SIX:
Connect the power cord to the back of your DVR and the wall. Be sure the switch on the power supply is set to "|" and not "O". When this is done, you are ready to press the power switch on the front of your DVR.

Be sure to download and read the Manual when you are done. This will show you how to setup everything on your DVR. Please refer to this when you have problems.

-

OPTIONAL STEPS:

  • Some users will be connecting their DVR to the internet/network. If you are doing this, be sure to connect your network cable or modem cable to the appropriate plug on the back of the DVR.
  • If you are going to be using the alarm inputs/outputs, you must connect these before you turn on your DVR.
