There are two items to talk here:
a) File System: Our newest MDVRs don't use Microsoft's File Systems (FAT, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS) due to their vulnerabilities, so we use a proprietary Linux File System instead, we called this NVRFS; therefore in order to interact from your computer with the HDD to download and playback files, you must have the proper drivers installed; I have found two drivers working properly for me, nevertheless the winner is:
http://www.fs-driver.org/download.htmlb) File Encryption: In order to improve the HDDs security and handling, now the files are hidden from public access, this will among others; protect the files from mishandling. So even if you see some files on the main volume with extension NVR, such files are nothing but internal use for our MDVR, so if you copy or move them thinking you could use them later the reality is not, these files won't playback. The correct way to Download and Playback the files is by using our software Mobile Witness Analyzer; Please refer to the users manual for this.
Hoping this clarification can save us all a lot of headaches.
