When first hooking up their IP cameras, some customers have been experiencing various video distortion problems in their surveillance software. These problems vary from green screens to slow transfer [frame] rates. All of these issues can been attributed to the IP camera's output settings. It's important to match up the resolution and sometimes frame rate settings with your surveillance software. However, also tweaking the IP's frame rate mode and bit rate is crucial. After some trial and error in tech supporting this, I have created the attached screen shots detailing the optimal Acti & Axis setups. Generally, Acti cameras stream better when set at a variable bit rate and Axis function better when set to a more constant rate. Of course these settings might not be everyone's preference or correct for every site setup, however I have found them to be optimal for the issues discussed above. Try matching your settings with my screenshots or try tweaking one or two options at a time to buffer out your problem.

If you are having issues with green strips of distortion anywhere on your IP video channels, this is due to it's resolution. Normally the screen resolution in the IP camera settings should match those of your surveillance software; in this case you might want to raise the IP camera's resolution within its settings [webpage.] Normally we don't suggest going larger than 800 X 600 but bumping it up to the 720 range could do the trick.
